Tour in a Box is an interactive scavenger hunt tour you play on your smartphone. At each stop, you solve a riddle that connects you to the location, learn fascinating history, and get local food & drink recommendations. No app download required, it runs in your browser.
How does it work? +
After purchasing, log in on your phone and head to the starting point. At each stop, you'll get walking directions to the next location, a riddle to solve, historical context, and nearby recommendations. Solve the riddle to unlock the next stop. At the end, a secret phrase is revealed!
Do I need to download an app? +
No app download required! Tour in a Box runs entirely in your mobile browser. You can also save it to your home screen for an app-like experience and download the tour for offline use.

Purchasing

Can I gift a tour to someone? +
Yes! Fill out our contact form and select "Gift Card Request" as the subject. We'll get you set up quickly. The recipient receives a code to redeem their tour.
Is there a refund policy? +
Yes, we offer a 30-day refund policy. If you're not satisfied with your tour experience, contact us at hello@tourinabox.com and we'll make it right.
Can multiple people use one purchase? +
Absolutely! One purchase gives access to your entire group. Just log in on one phone and explore together. No need to buy multiple tickets.

Playing the Tour

Where does the tour start? +
Each tour has a specific starting point listed on its page.
How long does the tour take? +
It depends on the tour. Check each tour's page for estimated duration and distance. You're completely in control, so you can pause for lunch, take photos, and resume whenever you're ready. Your progress is saved automatically.
What languages are the tours available in? +
All tours are in English. The San Juan tour also has a Spanish version.
Does it work offline? +
Yes! You can download the tour for offline use before you go. This is especially useful for international travelers without a local data plan. The entire tour works without internet.
When does my access expire? +
You have 1 year from the date of purchase to complete the tour. You can replay it as many times as you want within that period.

What devices are supported? +
Tour in a Box works on any modern smartphone, tablet, or computer with a web browser. We recommend using your phone for the best experience while walking.
Is my progress saved? +
Yes! Your progress is automatically saved as you go. If you close the browser or run out of battery, you'll pick up right where you left off when you return.
Can I switch devices? +
Yes. As long as you're logged in with the same account, your progress syncs across devices. Start on your phone and check your progress on your laptop, or vice versa.
